Walking Utopia: A Walking Tour with Steve Strimer and Christopher Clark @David Ruggles Center
May 3 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
The Ross Homestead, built around 1825, is the one building left standing on its original foundation of the three large Massachusetts “utopias” of the 1840s: Brook Farm, Hopedale, and Northampton. It is prominently stationed, surrounded by the Grow Food Northampton fields, on what was the farm and Agricultural Department of the Northampton Association.
Join guides Steve Strimer and Christopher Clark to see where things were and what remains. An optional visit to David Ruggles’ house, the Ross Homestead, and Park Street Cemetery follows at 1 PM for those with energy or transportation. We start at and return to the David Ruggles Center, 225 Nonotuck Street, to celebrate our Season Opening at noon.
