Founders’ Day Walking Tour: Commemorating the DRC’s 15th Anniversary

Please join Steve Strimer on a public walking tour on April 8, 2023, commemorating the 15th anniversary of the founding of the David Ruggles Center for History and Education. On April 8 we also honor the 141st anniversary of the founding of the Northampton Association of Education and Industry (NAEI). The NAEI, founded in what is now Florence on April 8, 1842, was a radical abolitionist utopian community founded on principles of racial, economic and gender equality. The NAEI attracted both David Ruggles and Sojourner Truth.
